In the Wake of Injustice — Walking the Way of Jesus Togethe

Have you ever felt the tension between what feels right and what feels easy? When the world is loud and confusing, it can be tempting to settle for simple answers—or to stay silent. Sunday’s sermon invited us to pause and ask a harder, more faithful question: What does following Jesus look like when justice is at stake?
Scripture reminds us that God’s heart is rooted in both truth and love. “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s throne” (Psalm 89:14, paraphrased). Throughout the Bible, God’s people are called not only to believe rightly, but to live rightly—especially toward the vulnerable, the overlooked, and the outsider.
This week’s message challenged us to move beyond surface-level faith. Pastor B named a real danger: confusing loyalty to systems or comfort with obedience to God. Scripture does not call us to blind allegiance, but to discernment shaped by God’s character. When our interpretations lead us away from compassion, equity, and mercy, it’s time to slow down and re-examine what we believe—and why.
Jesus modeled this kind of faith with his life. He crossed social boundaries, defended those pushed aside, and confronted religious hypocrisy that ignored justice. He loved people who were easiest to dismiss and called his followers to do the same. Faith, as Jesus taught it, always shows up in action.
That can feel overwhelming. But discipleship (becoming more like Jesus) is not about getting everything right all at once. It’s a journey of learning, unlearning, and growing. God meets us in our questions and shapes us over time as we stay open, humble, and willing.
Discipleship Connection
- Know God: We grow by reading Scripture carefully and honestly, letting God’s heart—not fear or habit or culture—guide our understanding.
- Find Community: We don’t wrestle with hard questions alone. God uses community to sharpen, challenge, and encourage us.
- Discover Purpose: As we mature, we begin to see how God is forming our character and convictions.
- Make a Difference: Faith becomes visible when love moves us to action—for justice, mercy, and compassion in everyday life.
If this sermon stirred questions or curiosity, Bible Study is a great next step. It’s a space where doubts are welcome, Scripture is explored together, and growth happens in community. You don’t need all the answers—just a willingness to show up and learn alongside others.
Where might God be inviting you to examine your beliefs more deeply so that your faith reflects both truth and love?
Our prayer for you today: God, give us hearts that seek You honestly and courage to live out what we learn. Help us grow in love, wisdom, and faithfulness as we follow Jesus together. Amen.
